The Maxcom MK241 was released December 2018 by the polish company Maxcom. It comes with KaiOS 2.5 but can be immediately updated to 2.5.1. The phone is Qualcomm based (MSM8909) and only comes in the black colour.
This phone was for a very long time considered to be a locked device, there was no way to interact with it via ADB. Luckily the firehose loader compatibe with most Nokia phones (0x000940e100420050) is also compatible with the MK241 so EDL is still available. There are two ways to go about the jailbreak: Manual Data Patch (safe) and Manual Boot Patch (loss of updates). To enter EDL mode use an EDL cable, since the keypad shortcut has not been found yet. You can download the custom data and boot partitions here or perform the patches yourself. To enable ADB it is necessary to flash a custom boot which disables official updates, this can be easily reversed however by keeping a backup of the stock boot and flashing it when needed.
After flashing the custom boot rooting can be done with Wallace Toolbox.
The recovery menu can be accessed with the "adb reboot recovery" command. It allows you to install patches from both sideload interface and SD card, view recovery logs, wipe data and cache partitions, reboot to bootloader and mount /system. If you want to access all of these features, you have to make and flash a custom recovery.
EDL mode is a Qualcomm-specific "emergency download" mode that can be entered by using an EDL cable or with the "adb reboot edl" command.
Fastboot mode can be accesed with the "adb reboot bootloader" command or via the "reboot to bootloader" option in recovery mode.
