MaxCom provides classic phones for the home and office. For their latest classics series, they chose KaiOS to revamp their devices. They support 4G and wi-fi, as well as the KaiStore and all the apps that come with it. The MK241 will be a midrange model, while the MK281 will come with a better camera and bigger screen. --

The Maxcom MK281 was released mid 2020 by the polish company Maxcom. It comes with KaiOS 2.5.1.1. The phone is Spreadtrum based (sp9820e_2h10), even though the official Maxcom website claims it is Qualcomm based. Some of the software allegedly comes from the Alcatel 3088. It only comes in the black colour.
It is best to use the W2D method to enable ADB and DevTools, since after using the *#*#33284#*#*
and *#*#0574#*#*
codes, you can only enable ADB debugging. For the Jailbreak it self use Wallace Toolbox, since priviliged factory reset WILL NOT work. If you want to root the device using Wallace Toolbox you have to install OmniBB or Wallace Spreadtrum because the MK281 doesn't come with busybox.
The easiest way to access Recovery mode is via ADB. It allows you to boot, wipe data/cache partitions and apply updates from external storage, cache or ADB. There is no need to create a custom recovery, since the default recovery is the test-keys version. This allows for running scripts such as dumpall-spreadtrum.zip or 4bash.zip without any trouble. The recovery partition contains a 512 byte header that mostly contains empty bytes.
Fastboot mode can also be accessed via ADB.
